Masdar City in Abu Dhabi will be the first C02 neutral city in the world. This city, which is meant to house about 1.500 companies, is the place where the technology of the future will be researched, developed and implemented. This initiative is meant to position Abu Dhabi as global leader and hub for research and development for retrievable energy and ongoing technology.
Below the city is where, for a greater part, the transportation will take place. Masdar City will be raised 6 meters, because of this there will be space below the city for transportation of people, goods and waste. The transportation will be by means of auto-pilot moving, electrically-powered cars, the Personal Rapid Transit (PRT). Transportation is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These cars need to be recharged ever so often. As well does this special vehicle require regular maintenance. This will all happen at the Maintenance Station.
The company 2getthere from Utrecht, the Netherlands was selected to deliver the first Personal Rapid Transit series to Masder City. 2getthere is specialized in the development of automatic driving and electric driven cars for group transportation and individual transport.
For the Maintenance Station, Herman De Groot Engineers is the one who designed and elaborated the technology, from the engineering of the design to the complete material list according to the British Standards and European guidelines.
